Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of those cities that has to be seen, to be believed. Known as the city that never sleeps, a city break here is on many bucket lists.

The best time to enjoy Las Vegas is from March to May or September to November. The hottest months are July & August, with the coolest month being December. Mid week visits tend to be cheaper than at the weekend, unless there’s a big convention in town. Las Vegas is party central during March & April as a popular destination for Spring Break.

Las Vegas can be romantic, there’s a selection of wedding chapels available for couples looking to get married with or without Elvis impersonators. Some of the hotels are out of this world, it’s not all tacky, you can find some superb places to stay in. Take in a show, you’ll be spoilt for choice and treat your spouse to a fabulous meal at one of the many fabulous restaurants. Add on a helicopter trip over the strip at sunset, or a picnic at the Grand Canyon for a special occasion.

We don’t tend to recommend Las Vegas as a destination for families. Most hotels have casinos integrated within the building and older children over 18 years old, can’t drink as the alcohol rule is over 21 in the USA.

Helicopter Tour Las Vegas Strip

It might only be a 12-15 minute flight experience, but the helicopter tour of the Las Vegas strip by night was fabulous. We booked it on personal recommendations from friends and agents who mentioned it was the highlight of their holiday. There are a few companies offering this excursion including Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters, Maverick Helicopters and Sundance Helicopters. We booked the excursion without limousine transfers, however every taxi ride we took to various points in Vegas during our stay…

Cheesecake Factory, Las Vegas

There are four Cheesecake Factory restaurants in Las Vegas, we popped in to the one at the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets for a coffee break whilst shopping and ended up having lunch instead, as the dishes looked fantastic. If you don’t know the Cheesecake Factory brand, their menu has a whopping 250 dishes, which are made fresh daily. I counted 37 different cheesecakes on the menu, it’s a staggering choice and actually makes it very hard to pick one.…

Fremont Street, Las Vegas

It’s definitely worth heading downtown to experience Fremont Street during a visit to Las Vegas, and one best enjoyed after dusk when the ceiling is illuminated with 12.5 million lights and 550000 watts of sound. We really enjoyed the diversity of this area for nightlife, shopping and dining. We visited twice during our week. The first time we went at night, our taxi dropped us off outside the Golden Nugget. We noticed most revellers were drinking from plastic cups from…
