Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands, after Tenerife. Known for stunning beaches, windmills, goats, surfing and good weather. The main holiday resorts are: Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma, Jandía and Morro Jable.
There are over 150 beaches to choose from in Fuerteventura! The best ones include the remote Playa de Cofete, Sotavento for windsurfing & photographers, the stunning Dunas de Corralejo for selfies, Caleta de Fuste for a sheltered horseshoe bay and Playa de la Cebada for beachfront restaurants & safe swimming.
The old capital of Betancuria is a beautiful place to visit, with cobbled streets & terracotta roofed buildings. The Ajuy Caves & black beach with fish restaurants attracts locals at the weekend, as well as tourists. El Cotillo’s chilled vibe and turquoise lagoons is a popular day out from Corralejo. Take a boat trip to Lobos for walks & birdwatching. Sotovento is home to the PWA windsurfing championship. The International Kite Festival is held annually in Corralejo.
Other than La Graciosa, we think that Fuerteventura is the most laid back island in the Canaries. It’s a great destination for a fly & flop holiday.
