Hammerfest, Norway

We had 3.5 hours to explore Hammerfest, which is the world’s most Northern town and was raised to the ground by the Germans during the second world war. My first port of call was “Isbjørnklubben”, The Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society, where I was registered as member no 258291 on behalf of Hurtibear, our furry stowaway. This is an interesting shop will reasonably priced gifts and polar bear museum, entry is free of charge. The membership costs 200 NOK,…

Taj Mahal Mud Restoration

Heads up for anyone planning to visit the Taj Mahal from April 2017, the main dome is scheduled for restoration work which includes covering it in mud! Four of the minarets at the Taj Mahal have already received this treatment over the past year, which was suggested as a way to clean the black and yellow spots that have accumulated on the marble surface. Work is expected to start on the main dome in April and the project is due…

Hilton Madrid Airport

Normally when we fly to Madrid we head straight for the centre via the Metro, this time, as we were flying out again the next day, we needed an airport hotel. The Hilton Madrid Airport is only a few minutes drive away and they offer complimentary minibus transfers, every 20 minutes. The hotel has 284 rooms and suites, including guest rooms, suites and executive rooms which are situated on the upper floors. We booked a standard guest room which was…

Afternoon Tea At The Peninsula Hong Kong

When I asked Mike what he’d like to do on his birthday in Hong Kong, there was no hesitation in his response which was to have afternoon tea at The Peninsular. This nostalgic British tradition remains very popular in Hong Kong and although there are many places offering an afternoon tea service, The Lobby at The Peninsular is high on the list of the top ten recommendations. The Afternoon Tea service is classically British, served on a silver tiered stand,…

A Bus Trip To Stanley In Hong Kong

We decided to head for the coast on the other side of Hong Kong on Saturday morning. We took the MTR into Central and then caught the 260 express bus to Stanley from the Exchange Square bus station. It wasn’t easy to find the bus station, the signs from both Hong Kong station and the IFC shopping centre were terrible! There’s several buses to Stanley, the 6, 6A, 6X and 66 stop had a long queue, we spotted a small…

Hong Kong Museum Of History

We visited the history museum while we were on holiday on the island. From a selfish point of view, I wanted to see what was there relating to my time living on the island, but I was also fascinated to find out more about the country and it’s development. Hong Kong really only came onto the world map in 1841, when, after the first opium war, the island was granted in perpetuity to the United Kingdom, and the new territories…

Travel Conference Crete 2017

It’s hardly been worth storing the suitcases away as we are heading to Crete this week for our travel conference. Our first trip to Crete was on our spring conference 2 years ago, this time we’re looking forward to meeting up with colleagues, plus we’ve added a couple of days on to explore the island for ourselves. On our last visit we flew into Heraklion and stayed at Capsis Crystal Energy by the village of Agia Pelagia. This time we…

Domes Noruz Chania, Crete

We were impressed by the Domes Noruz Chania beachfront property in the village of Agioi Apostoloi, this area is very popular with locals at the weekend and the natural park is fiercely protected against development. This luxury 5* hotel has 83 suites with 2 swimming pools, 1 restaurant and 2 bars. Chaniá is only 2.5km away for a city vibe and the beautiful Venetian harbour in the old town. The holiday resorts of Agia Marina and Porto Plananias are along…

Meet our team

Mike Cliffe-Jones

Director

I love travelling the world, especially when I get do so with a touch of luxury. For me travel is about buying “moments’ rather than “Things.” I’m an Ironman triathlete, scuba diver and I love techy stuff and cars. Sadly for my waistline, I love cooking and enjoying great food! I’ve developed a taste for cruising and excited where the future is taking us.

Julie Cliffe-Jones

Director

The kids have grown up and it’s time to have some fun with my hubby interspersing work with travel. I love discovering new places on road trips and cruises. I like to get immersed in local culture, experience gastronomy, discover wildlife and take photographs along the way. I enjoy booking our clients holidays, as much as I do planning our own.
