Puerto de Mogan is a picturesque fishing village, with a sheltered beach, situated in the South of Gran Canaria.
Known as “Little Venice” in reference to the canals and bridges found in the marina. Puerto de Mogan is a delightful destination for a relaxing holiday in the Canary Islands. The harbour area is awash with colour, from the bougainvillea lined streets, to the painted buildings and moored boats. It’s a photographer’s dream!
The beach at Puerto de Mogan is a sheltered sandy cove with sun beds and umbrellas for hire. A safe spot to enjoy a dip in the Atlantic. The breakwater is good for snorkelling, there’s pedalos for hire and a variety of waterfront establishments for refreshments.
Visitors to Puerto de Mogan like this destination to escape the hustle and bustle of the larger tourist resorts. There’s a fabulous choice of restaurants where you can eat fresh fish and local gastronomy as well as international cuisine. There are also a selection of shops to browse around in the marina and centre.
There is a pedestrian walkway connecting the hotels set back from the front. This footpath provides a pleasant stroll down to the waterfront from the Cordial Mogán Valle or Playa, and Radisson Blu Resort & Spa.
The largest market in the South of Gran Canaria is held here on Fridays from 9am to 3pm, which brings an influx of tourists into Puerto de Mogan. Expect lots of stalls selling souvenirs, local food products and artisan crafts which are spread out in the port and surrounding streets. On Mondays there’s also a smaller art and craft market in Playa de Mogan from 9am -2pm.
Head to Sunset Point to watch the sun sinking into the sea. Pick up the footpath past the marina by the harbour wall, where you can walk along the base of the cliff, to this rocky shelf. There’s usually a mixed crowd of locals and tourists to be found enjoying the vibe in the location at the end of the day.
