The 5* Lava Beach Hotel officially opened on the 1st February 2019. It’s situated in a beachfront position in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote.

Built from scratch, rather than modernising an existing hotel, the architect was able to absorb the superb natural light found in Lanzarote, throughout the design. For example, the bathrooms in all room types feature a glass panel in the wall which allows daylight into the interior. The toilet is an enclosed cubicle for more privacy.

We visited the Lava Beach hotel during the Easter holidays. Despite a time of busy occupancy, there was a calm and relaxed atmosphere around the communal areas. The hotel isn’t vast, nor boutique, the Lava Beach is somewhere in the middle, with a total of 154 rooms available over 2-4 floors. The Lava Beach hotel has clean lines, modern amenities and a quiet ambience, all of which are perfect ingredients for a chilled holiday by the beach in Lanzarote. Whilst not classed as an adult only hotel, there aren’t any facilities for children at the Lava Beach.

The hotel’s location falls between Matagorda and Playa Los Pocillos. The Sol Lanzarote and Seaside Jameos Playa hotels are neighbours. Convenient for a short transfer from the airport, and within easy reach of the vibrant Puerto del Carmen holiday resort. Hotel guests have direct access to the promenade which stretches from the capital of Arrecife to Playa Grande beach in Puerto del Carmen.

As you’d expect with a 5* hotel, the staff are courteous, friendly and professional. Personal requests are easily accommodated, so your room can be personalised to your preference. For example the beds are made up as twins, however they zip together if you prefer a double. On the balcony there are two chairs, table and a sun bed.

The main pool area includes two free form fresh water swimming pools and a jacuzzi. There are plenty of sun beds, as well as Balinese beds (free of charge). Pool heating is on from the 1st November to 30th April. The larger pool has a rail with sloping steps for easy access. The lower pool has submerged beds for a chilled laze in the water. You won’t find any loud music booming around the pool, or water based activities at this hotel. The pool bar offers a sun bed service with food and snacks delivered via the press of a button. There are additional sun beds and Balinese beds on a roof top terrace and pergola area by the promenade.
