The popular 4* Iberostar Bouganville Playa hotel, situated on the beachfront of Costa Adeje has reopened in August 2019 following a renovation. The Bouganville Playa is perfectly located on the promenade in San Eugenio, just 20 metres from Playa de el Bobo beach and around the corner from Puerto Colón marina. This family hotel has a fabulous Aquafun area for children, as well as the Star Camp kids club. For adults there’s the exclusive Star Prestige area, complete with lounge and 3 different sun terraces.

Restaurants

Apart from the location, the other reason to stay in this hotel is the food! You needn’t worry about staying all inclusive, as is true of lots of Iberostar hotels, the gastronomy in the Bouganville Playa is wonderful. The main buffet restaurant has a massive central island with show cooking chefs serving a variety of meat and fish dishes each evening. There’s also two more chef stations over to the right with pasta and vegetarian options. It’s so easy to dine heathy too, with huge salad bars and a selection of fresh vegetables. There is a dress code for gentlemen at dinner, long trousers are required and no sleeveless shirts. Open from 07:30-10:30 for breakfast and 18:00-21:30 for dinner (30 minute variation from summer to winter). Lunch is served at the Barbacoa restaurant from 13:00-15:00, guests can enjoy a buffet style meal at the seafront of the hotel with views over the Atlantic.

Bars

For drinks there are 3 bars to choose from. The pool bar is situated between the two swimming pools, open from 09:30-18:00. Drinks are served in eco friendly paper cups, help yourself to soft drinks or beers on tap, or one of the staff will be happy to serve you. The Hall Bar in the lobby is open from 11:00 to midnight, with live music in the evenings. Finally the Lanzarote Bar is open from 20:00-23:00, lounge style theatre seating, the kiddies disco is followed by a variety of evening shows. We watched the Red Dragon Chinese acrobatic show during our stay, which was entertaining with some audience participation, as well as demonstrating their well practised skills.

Children’s Club

Star Camp is the children’s club at Iberostar hotels, there are 3 activity programmes including Monkey 4-7 years, Dolphin 8-12 years & Eagle for teenagers aged 13-17 years. Entertainment and activities are available for all guests, in 5 languages including English, Spanish, German, French and Italian. There’s a superb fitness centre with cardio machines, and free weights open from 10:00-20:00. Other activities included paddle board, bingo, aerobics, archery and boules.

From the hotel’s reception there is a fairly steep sloped pavement or steps leading down to the promenade or beach. Guests can take advantage of the side gate situated by the pool bar, to access local amenities from a lower level. Pool towels are on deposit, pay €10 each to reception for a token which can be exchanged with the lifeguard by the pools between 10:00-18:00. The safe was €3 per day with a €5 deposit. You can upgrade to unlimited services from €20 per person, per day this includes premium drinks at the bars & restaurants, free safe, minibar in your room restocked daily and laundry service. There are water machines on each floor, by the lift. Take a drinking bottle to refill at leisure either with cold or ambient water. The Iberostar Bouganville Playa ticks a lot of boxes for a family or adults only holiday in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. The location is excellent with Bobo beach almost on the doorstep. Plus boat trips a short walk away from Puerto Colón. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants close by. You can walk for miles along the seafront promenade. For us the big plus was the food. The buffet restaurant was the surprise and delight element of our stay at this hotel. We were spoilt for choice as for what to eat, everything was fresh and of fantastic quality.
