We weren’t planning to stay at the Palais Medina & Spa in Fès, however we weren’t happy with the location of our accommodation we’d booked, so we cancelled and reserved a room at this 5* hotel.
The hotel is situated on a main road, opposite the medina and next to a good sized shopping centre. We booked a standard double room with bed & breakfast and were allocated one with a lovely view over the pool and medina.
Our room (332) was spacious, the living space included a large double bed, good sized sofa, desk and television with English channels.
The complimentary high speed wifi wasn’t working, we couldn’t connect in our room, the lobby or bar area, eventually reception offered us a personal 4G MiFi which was excellent, so that we could work during our stay.
The outdoor swimming pool at this hotel was also under maintenance, the work wasn’t noisy and we weren’t planning to swim so this did not affect us.
Having no desire to venture out into Fès again before we left the area, we visited the bar for a drink in the afternoon and the international restaurant for a meal in the evening.
My stuffed chicken breast was really tasty, however the couscous base was stodgy and luke warm as were the vegetables which had been set out in an interesting pattern on the plate. I was left with food envy as Mike’s entrecot steak and chips with green pepper sauce was delicious. Both meals were ordered from the menu, rather than the buffet.
