Our Experience

We stayed at the Hotel Fariones in October 2021.

If you have a car, just pull up outside the hotel reception to check in, then your registration will be recognised by the parking barrier to go underground.

The check in process is at two desks on the right as you enter the hotel, you are seated during the process and a welcome drink served. Pool tokens are issued on arrival as well as your room keys. Oliver showed us to our room, he’s worked at the hotel for 15 years.

Our junior suite sea view room was 622, which was perfectly located being central in the hotel on the 3rd floor up from reception. Our balcony was very private benefitting from afternoon sunshine, with views to Playa Grande and a distant pool view through the palms. The attention to detail all adds to the experience, little things like an automatic light in the wardrobe, a powerful hairdryer with diffuser, the shelf in the shower full of toiletries, complimentary flip flops and slippers, daily drinking water, a daily change of towels even if you hung your damp ones up etc.

We were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary and received a fabulous hand written message from Miriam, the Guest Relations Manager along with a bottle of cava on ice and a tray of petits fours for our special occasion.

Our first evening we dined at Kaori which is a superb setting, the service was first class and the food beautifully presented. We really enjoyed our Kaori tasting menu, but it’s not a meal you would repeat twice in one stay and felt it was a shame there wasn’t an additional à la carte menu to try on another evening.

The hotel has an App which we used for restaurant information. We found it lacking in detail, for example about the à la carte breakfast – in the end, we visited the restaurant to ask about the cost of upgrading.

Reservations are not required for the Buffet Bella Lucía. The outside terrace was popular for both meals and often there were guests choosing to wait for a table, rather than be seated inside. In our experience for breakfast and dinner, the cold selection was good, plus show cooking options, however we were disappointed with the hot selection as the elements we tried were barely warm. We would recommend staying in bed & breakfast accommodation and dining in their other onsite restaurants if you’re not a fan of buffet meals.

At the time of our visit there was a lot of towels reserving sun beds from first thing. We headed down after breakfast and managed to find 2 single ones left in the main pool area which we moved together. There are plenty of hidden spots within the mature gardens with a variety of seating, so do take a good walk around to find your preferred area. Guests have gate access to both beaches of Playa Grande and Playa Fariones (Cala on the map), so it’s easy to swim in the sea. The two jacuzzis are situated together, below the infinity pool. Watching the sunrise from the jacuzzi before breakfast was a lovely start to the day. The main infinity pool has roman steps with a hand rail for easy access. Plus a stone shelf where you can just sit in shallow water or drop into the main pool. The pool shape is good if you like to have a proper swim, or like most, head over to the infinity side to gaze out to sea.

For our last breakfast we upgraded to Kaori and it was fabulous. It’s a brunch style menu with fine dining service.

In summary, the Hotel Fariones is a calm oasis in the centre of Puerto del Carmen. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this 5* hotel, it has the best location in the resort, comfortable rooms, fabulous air conditioning and a high ratio of staff to guests so that there is always some available to help with a request.
