Did you know there’s a five star hotel located in the terminal at Dubai International Airport, and that you can book a room for a few hours at a time there?

We’d highly recommend it for anyone with a layover of more than a few hours. We had arrived on a very long 15 hour flight from Brisbane, and had seven hours to wait for our connecting flight to London, so we checked in on a six hour package and it was wonderful to have a sleep in a comfortable bed and enjoy a piping hot shower.

The hotel itself has all the facilities you’d expect of a five star, including a full spa and restaurants, but I can’t tell you about those as we didn’t even visit.

What I can tell you is that then room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was glorious and we had a massage chair in the room which was amazing!

The room was also exceptionally well equipped for this kind of short stay between flights – there was a Nespresso machine, a kettle, an iron and board, a hairdryer and a huge range of toiletries, as well as toothbrushes and toothpaste and even razors and shaving foam.

An added bonus was that the windows look out onto the apron, and I can’t think of anywhere else in the world you can see an Airbus A380 parked 20 metres from your hotel room window!

The hotel isn’t cheap, at around €150 for a six hour stay, but I would absolutely visit again. It was such a joy to get a chair massage, climb into the huge bed and sleep for a few hours, before waking up to Nespresso and a hot shower and a shave. The alternative would have been to wander the concourses for hours feeling grubby, tired and sore.
