We’ve had received notification of two new building sites in the holiday resort of Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote. We’ve been down to see them recently to understand the impact for the surrounding hotels.

Directly across the road from the boutique hotel Lani’s Suites, on the Avenida de Las Playas their second project has just started construction. The demolition of the existing buildings has already been completed. Now work will begin to construct shops, offices and parking. The start date for the project was April 2019, with an end date of April 2023. We are aware of a booking errata in place for the Labranda Playa Club apartments, for noise disturbance.

At the other end of the Avenida de Las Playas another comercial project is fully underway. La Perla is situated across the road from the Suite Hotel Fariones Playa, next to Mango. We are aware of a booking errata for this 4* hotel, plus their 3* Apartamentos Fariones around the corner. Work is taking place Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00. The promotor is Lanzasuiza S.A, there’s no end date published on the project notice.

The latest on the refurbishment of the 5* Los Fariones hotel is that it should open on the 1st February 2020, although we haven’t seen any rates released as yet.

Work has started in Matagorda to upgrade the promenade from Calle Marte to the Carretera de Las Playas. According to the project notice board work was due to start from November 2019 for 6 months at an investment cost of €2.162.592,62. A new water pipeline will be installed for irrigation and showers, and electricity for public lighting. The existing walls will be repaired and new planters installed. The pavement will be replaced with a pebble stone finish and the bike lane with smooth asphalt. Plus tactile directional tiles for accessibility. Finally new street furniture will be installed. We are aware of a noise disruption booking errata for the Las Gaviotas Bungalows, this would affect those situated in the blocks close to the beachfront. Other hotels in this area include the Beatriz Playa & Spa, Sol Lanzarote, Lava Beach and the Jameos Playa.

The next phase of the promenade refurbishment in Puerto del Carmen is due to start from September 2019. This work will extend the bike lane and pedestrian footpath from Avenida de Italia to Calle Noruega. This work will affect the VIK Hotel San Antonio and the Hibiscus Hotel Las Costas when it gets underway. The project is expected to take 5 months.

Work has started on the new section of the Avenida de Las Playas between the side streets of Avenida de Italia and Calle Noruega in Puerto del Carmen. This section of road is closed to all but residents and essential traffic.

The footpath is open, cyclists are prohibited from riding and should follow the traffic diversion. This work effects the hotels VIK San Antonio and Las Costas.

Hotel VIK San Antonio Refurbishment

Initial planning permission has been granted for a refurbishment and expansion of Hotel San Antonio in Puerto del Carmen, one of the island’s oldest hotels. The plans will be made public in the new year. There will then be a two month period so that interested parties can review them.
