Wednesday is a gala night in the buffet restaurant, roses and cava are presented on arrival, repeat guests tend to dress for the occasion and a special effort is made with the food. We particularly enjoyed the seafood & sushi options.

Our Experience

These are our notes additional to the standard hotel information above, learned during our stay at this hotel for a week in November 2021.

The Arona Gran is situated opposite Los Cristianos harbour, guests should expect to hear noise from the two ferry services operating throughout the day.

We highly recommend the UP! rooms, the extra cost is worth it for the additional benefits included.

Standard rooms are situated on the side of the hotel overlooking a private community apartment block with morning sunshine. Some may be affected by wafts from a sewage treatment plant below, you could certainly smell it when walking in this area.

The double room side sea view rooms were in shade all day during our visit.

Our room was UP! 667, the sunshine was on our balcony from 10:30 to sunset during our visit in November.

On our floor, 642 was by the lift, 646 upwards were situated on the sunny side of the hotel but the furthest to walk from reception.

We were able to book a second evening in the à la carte restaurant with a €16pp supplement from UP! half board.

Wear your UP! band in the buffet restaurant in the evenings to have the house wines from the UP! terrace included free of charge. Your partial bottles of wine will be reserved with your room number to enjoy the following evening.

Direct access to the promenade is available but not obvious, take the stairs down to the gym to find it. Coming in from the promenade, you need to put your hand through the grill to access the card swipe on the other side.

The indoor and outdoor spas have chair lift access for guests with limited mobility.

Daytime activities included aqua gym, petanca, fitball, darts, yoga, ping pong, bingo, body balance, sjoelen, dance class, sunbed stretch and pilates.

Evening shows included Corazón del Caribe, Tour du Cirque, Breaking the Silence, Back to the 80’s, The Crooner, plus ABBA, Barry White & Robbie Williams tributes.

The UP! assistant is fabulous! Nerissa was amazing at answering questions, organising spa treatments and dining for us.

The first sun beds to have sunshine on the pool terrace are on the far right hand side of the hotel, as you face the sea.

The weather tended to be sunny mornings and cloudy afternoons during our stay.

There is a Superdino supermarket across the road from the hotel entrance, plus an Overseas British supermarket below the Costamar next door.

The outdoor market situated next to the hotel was open on Sunday & Tuesday.

For beaches, Playa de Los Cristianos is 750m walk along the promenade and combined with the harbour, if you continue on around the corner Playa de Las Vistas is a big beach with sunbeds (1.8km). Personally we liked Playa del Camisón a bit further on (2.5km), as it’s a smaller cove with tikki style umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach, or a grass bank that you can sunbathe on – just watch out for the sprinklers!

The coastal promenade stretches 10km from the Arona Gran Hotel in Los Cristianos to the fishing village of La Caleta. No scooters or bikes are allowed, this is a pedestrian footpath linking the resorts of Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas & Costa Adeje.
