We were all wowed by the Anemos Luxury Grand Resort on arrival in Georgioupolis, this 5 star suites and spa hotel is just one year old.
Our first stop was the impressive sun terrace and two swimming pools by reception.
Next we were shown a Deluxe Family Room with a private pool which was really spacious (from 65m2) and had been thoughtfully designed to include lots of wardrobe space, air conditioning, tea & coffee making facilities and a television in each room.
The second twin bedroom was accessed off the king size bedroom. Both bedrooms could access the terrace and pool area. Accommodating 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children, each bedroom had it’s own bathroom and toiletries provided.
The Double Deluxe room with private pool is a popular choice for honeymooners, or couples wanting a romantic break. These are 30m2 in size and accommodate up to 2 adults and 1 child or 3 adults. Available with a king size bed or twin beds on request, an extra bed can be placed in the room for the 3rd person.
The accommodation at Anemos is available with a choice of garden view, pool view, garden view shared pool, garden view private pool – apart from the Deluxe Duplex Maisonettes which have pool view as standard.
Board options include bed & breakfast or half board at Anemos. Meltemi is the main buffet restaurant, Levantes serves Cretan Cuisine, Ostria serves Mediterranean & Seafood, Sirocco is the snack bar on the beach and the Brasserie is perfect for lunch. A candelit dinner for 2 can be arranged on the beach, or a private BBQ served by your pool, for more exclusive dining experience and special occasions.
The resort is built at the base of the Lefka Ori mountain range, which was still capped with snow on our visit in April. The 16km long beachfront is a short walk away and accessed by an underpass from the hotel. The small seaside town of Georgioupolis is approximately 2km walk away, which can be accessed by road, beach or a tourist train service. The natural freshwater Kournas Lake provides an alternative destination to the beach and is popular with walkers. Chania airport is a distance of 48km from the hotel. The tiny St. Nicolas chapel which protects the local fisherman is a popular destination for visitors to Georgioupolis, who can walk out to it along the stone causeway at low tide. This area of Chania is known for it’s wildlife including turtles and birding.
If you’re looking for a wedding or vow renewal destination, then the Anemos Luxury Grand Resort has their own chapel and can help arrange ceremonies. There is also a Spa and Wellness Centre for a total chill out & beauty treatments at Aura.
The mini club is open daily to children from the age of 4 to 12 years old, which includes a playground, and children’s pool, there’s also a mini disco each evening. Baby sitting and nanny services are available at an additional cost.
