If you are travelling between Phuket and Krabi we highly recommend taking a small diversion to appreciate the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint. This is also possible as a day trip from Phuket, maybe combined with a boat trip to James Bond Island.
We were travelling from Phuket by hire car. Shortly after crossing the Sarasin Bridge we took an approx 14km detour off the route to Krabi. Our destination was the Bay View Cafe, however to reach this you need to park at the Sametnangshe Boutique Hotel and purchase a shuttle bus ticket for 150 baht per person. We boarded the next available shuttle and hung on tight! There’s 3 steep inclines to the stop, then a set of steps which takes you up to the cafe terrace and a breathtaking panoramic view.
We ordered a light lunch, if you spend over 300 baht per person, the 150 baht shuttle ticket is deducted from the bill. It’s a beautiful view with plenty of options for selfies with the Phang Nga Bay limestone islands in the background.
The Bay View Cafe’s current opening hours are 08:00-18:00.
Another option to enjoy this view is the Beyond Skywalk Nangshi. Or stay overnight at the hotel!
