The Arrecife Gran Hotel and Spa was originally built 1970, and at 54 metres tall, it is Lanzarote’s tallest and only high rise building. The original incarnation of the hotel, despite the involvement of César Manrique on the interior design, was a failure, largely because tourism hadn’t really taken off on the island, and Arrecife just wasn’t ready for tourists.
The hotel fell into disrepair, was abandoned by the owners and became a squat for the homeless. It caught fire in 1994, although the structure was undamaged and nobody was injured. The Arrecife Gran was completely refurbished and re-opened in 2004 as a five star hotel and spa.
It’s now one of the island’s iconic landmarks, with incredible views across the island, and is visible from many kilometres away from the capital.
It features a large underground chargeable car park which can be used by residents of the hotel or visitors.
Rooms
There are six room types at the hotel:
Avenue Room
The avenue room has a view of the city of Arrecife and although it’s the entry level, it’s luxurious, with floor to ceiling windows and a bathroom with bath tub. It has a desk area and a couch for relaxation. It’s 30m2 in size.
Ocean Room
The Ocean room is identical, but as it’s name suggests, it has a sea view.
Essential Suite
These comfortable 45m2 suites have a bedroom, a bathroom with a rain shower and a comfortable lounge. These are city view suites.
Ocean Suite
These are identical but have an ocean view.
Infinity Suite
45 square metres and flooded with natural light that, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows, fills these spacious and comfortable suite with warmth. The Infinity Suite has breath-taking ocean views of our a bathroom with glass-walled rain shower and ocean views. The Infinity Suite have a bedroom, a living room, a bathroom with a rain shower, and a view of the sea.
Those staying in Infinity suites enjoy the following services:
- Minibar with non-alcoholic beverages upon arrival (replenishment not included).
- Mineral water with daily replacement.
- Coffee capsules with daily replacement.
- Double bed.
- Invitation to a cocktail at our grill & pool bar, La Buena Vida.
Sky Suite
This is the top level of room at The Arrecife Gran Hotel and is offers two bedrooms:

They have the charm of an exquisite space, resulting from the combination of the best panoramic sea views and the warmth of exclusive rooms designed down to the last detail, with luxury as a standard.
These 2-bedroom, 110-square-metre suites feature a spacious living-dining room and a dressing room next to the bedroom. In addition, the main bathroom has a Jacuzzi and hydromassage shower.
Sky Suite clients also enjoy the following services:

Swimming Pool & Beach
The swimming pool is on the first floor, and is at the centre of a fabulous large deck for sunbathing. There is a bar with snacks there, and plenty of space.
Playa del Reducto is a stunning golden sand beach, complete the palms, and is literally metres from the main entrance of the Arrecife Gran Hotel
Restaurants and Bars
We’ve already mentioned the pool bar, which is called La Buena Vida, and serves brunch, lunch and snacks.
Blue 17 is on the 17th floor and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and also has a cocktail bar – sip while you enjoy the best views in Lanzarote.
The Alarz Bahía Club restaurant offers a gourmet experience, reinventing the concept of the Spanish beach bar in an urban, elegant and modern environment.
And finally, there is a buffet restaurant open for lunch and dinner.
Parking
There is a large car park underneath the Arrecife Gran Hotel, complete with electric car chargers.
