Heads up for anyone planning to visit the Taj Mahal from April 2017, the main dome is scheduled for restoration work which includes covering it in mud!

Four of the minarets at the Taj Mahal have already received this treatment over the past year, which was suggested as a way to clean the black and yellow spots that have accumulated on the marble surface. Work is expected to start on the main dome in April and the project is due to take up to 12 months.

The mud-pack therapy news is a bit of a blow for tourists already scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal. Iron scaffolding will be constructed around the dome for the treatment, which is a spoiler for photos posing in front of this iconic building.
