Atlantis Bahía Real Facilities
It’s not uncommon to see guests padding around in their robes heading to the Spa Bahía Vital. The spa has a sauna, steam rooms, Turkish bath, hydrotherapy water circuit and a variety of massage or beauty treatments available. There’s also a gym with cardio machines and free weights. As well as fitness area with classes including Zumba, yoga, spinning amongst others.
This isn’t a hotel for those seeking entertainment, it’s more about the location and facilities. Guests can enjoy live music in the lobby bar during most evenings. For children, there is a kids club (4-12 years) opening times depend on occupancy. Older children (7-12 years) can use the Cyber room, again opening times depend on occupancy.
There are 3 freshwater swimming pools, in a central position making them sheltered from the wind. Sun beds are situated within maturely planted gardens, linked by footpaths and bridges.
The closest shopping centre is the Centro Comercial El Campanario, a 1km stroll away. To reach the main road into Corralejo, Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen it is 1.7km walk. In the other direction, Flag beach windsurf centre is 1.5km walk.
We’ve personally stayed at this hotel. Our room (340) was a double deluxe sea view on the second floor, we had a fabulous view over the beach to the island of Los Lobos. These rooms are a good size at 36m ² there is a choice of a king size bed 2 x 2 metres or two twin beds 2 x 1.10 metres. There are two comfortable chairs for relaxing inside, as well as a desk. The balcony was furnished with two wicker style chairs and table for outdoor lounging with a view. In the bathroom, it was a shower over bath, toiletries are provided.
Our accommodation rate included breakfast which was served in the buffet restaurant. Despite visiting in the peak of the summer, the buffet restaurant coped well with the number of guests. We never struggled to find a vacant table and the food was fresh and plentiful.
We booked the tasting menu at Yamatori which was stunning. Priced at €48 a head the menu included:
Yamatori salad with seaweed
Tempura of maki with soft cheese, banana and gofio
Mixed sashimi and sushi
Crunchy rolls with Fuerteventura goat and plums
Salmon Teriyaki with creamy celery
Banana flambé with Sake and green tea ice cream
We really enjoyed the experience. Japanese gastronomy is difficult to find in the Canary Islands. This meal was a highlight of our stay.
The Beach Club Las Palmeras was fabulous for lunch, this restaurant is situated between the swimming pool and beach, so offers views in either direction. We ordered two dishes to share: chicken salad with apple, pine nuts, cesar sauce and parmesan crackers, plus the fried fish and seafood with a variety of mayonnaise.
At the time of our visit, there was a section of rock between the sand and the sea, so guests were accessing the water from the pier. There’s steps close to shore before the chill out area, as well as further out. The cabanas at the chill out were chargeable, we just had a drink at the bar area.
We used the gym during our stay, which had a good selection of cardio machines and weights for a workout. Followed by a relax in the spa, after completing the hydrotherapy circuit.
In summary we’d definitely stay at the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real again. Next time we would choose to stay on half board plus, having tried the à la carte restaurants. This beachfront hotel in Corralejo has a chilled vibe with good gastronomy.
