Covid insurance has been arranged by the Canary Islands government. This 12 month policy provided by AXA is to cover visitors to the destination who are diagnosed with Covid-19 during their holiday.
This cover includes:
- medical expenses
- medical repatriation
- extension of stay due to quarantine (maximum of 15 days) in the same resort / hotel / regulated tourist accommodation or in another establishment designated by the health authorities and insurance company
The insurance covers Spanish and International tourists in the Canary Islands, staying in regulated tourist accommodation. Accompanying relatives* regardless of test results are also included.
* Spouse, partner or person travelling with them as such, and their ascendents or descendants (children, grandchildren & grandparents). Brothers, brothers in law, sisters and sisters in law of both members of the couple will also be considered as family members of the insured.
This travel assistance insurance is valid for the duration of the trip, up to a maximum of 30 days.
The policy is a supplementary Covid insurance and will only be activated if the insured party does not have a policy in place that covers the situation. Any circumstances known to the insured party prior to the start of the trip will be excluded.

In summary, this Covid insurance policy has been provided for peace of mind for travellers visiting the Canary Islands. You should still travel with your valid European Health Cards (EHIC / E111 / GHIC) and have a standard travel insurance policy in place to cover you for other eventualities.
