This was recommend to us by our friends Jack and Andy, who we met there for lunch. The location was perfect as we were staying in Hotel Botanico, right across the road.

It’s a small restaurant, but offers both indoor and outdoor tables. The decor is modern, clean and light – the place feels a cut above the usual tapas bar. .

They have a big range of daily specials, and as a group we opted to go for a number of dishes to be placed on the table to share. Jack had been raving about the house Papas, and we added the special lapas, a portion of chipirones, and pulpo a la Gallega

The food is presented beautifully – more like a top class restaurant than a humble tapas bar. Some arrives on slates, with the sauce artistically “painted” on, and the lapas arrived in a piping hot skillet.

Jack was right, the spuds were amazing! Crispy outside, with a soft inside and the hottest mojo rojo I’ve ever had! The lapas are small limpets and they had been dressed with garlic and chopped herbs and were sweet and delicious. Chipirones are small pieces of squid very lightly cooked in a seasoned crumb – they were perfectly cooked too, and the pulpo was dusted with smoked paprika and tender as could be.

It was a great recommendation and a fabulous meal. We’d come across the place the previous night, and stopped to try a particular local wine they had, which they served with the most delicious Manchego cheese. When we arrived for our lunch, we were greeted like long lost friends by the staff, and that pretty much sums up the atmosphere there – fabulous, friendly service from staff who just seem to be enjoying their work.

Highly recommended, and considering how good the food was, great value at under €50 for the four of us.
